I’m tired of seeing a character I relate to so much being written as a child. If Hardcase has ADHD, it’s going to make his life much harder than his brothers’. Just, stop making hardcase a child, y’all. You don’t have to use these! At all! But if you’re going to make Hardcase ADHD, consider carefully if you’re writing him as a person, or as a caricature. Theres like a million other traits that would work too! Some of them fit in the “stereotype” of ADHD, some don’t. triple- and quadruple checks his weapons to make sure he didn’t forget something stupid, like the charge pack has to have a checklist to make sure he doesn’t forget any of his gear zones out in the shower and takes forever stays up late, has a really hard time waking up in the mornings. Feels like he’s a failure and will never succeed at anything he actually wants to do. really smart, but can’t follow through and finish things. Falls apart when he has to come up with that structure himself. works best when people give him clear instructions and a solid structure. Constantly feels like no one really likes him, they only tolerate him. never turns in his paperwork on time, and when he does, it has really stupid mistakes on it Can’t stand certain kinds of foods because of the texture. Rubs things that have a texture he likes. Can’t deal with loud, crowded, noisy environments, and avoids them. might explain why he shaves his head, if he hates the feeling of hair. abruptly changes topics in the middle of conversation, because his brain made like 50 connections in the space of about a second maybe a little clumsy, since people with ADHD can have worse hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning So Hardcase’s hyperactivity might manifest with the Leg Bounce, really quiet finger tapping, clipping/unclipping a buckle on his armor, daydreaming, curling his toes inside his boots, being a chatterbox (when talking is allowed) struggles to contain hyperactivity-it’s canon that he’s hyperactive, but I don’t think that shit would have been tolerated on Kamino.

constantly asking people to repeat themselves, misses important parts of briefings hyperfixates on topic that he finds interesting, spends a few weeks/months learning about it in-depth, then finds another interest and the first one goes to the wayside Please stop writing Hardcase as if he’s an overgrown 6-year old.Īctually, here’s some ideas you can use, that everyone with ADHD will see and go “oh big mood” No one else I know with ADHD acts like a child. And it really bugs me, because Hardcase should be treated as a fully-fledged character, not a child. Like, super happy-go-lucky, obsessed with pranks, incapable of being serious, just wants to blow everything up. And I see a lot of people write him as if he’s some sort of child. A lot of people- me included- headcanon him as having ADHD. I’m thinking specifically of Hardcase here.
